Saint Nicolas of Volimes is a picturesque and “unharmed” settlement of Northeast Zante. Saint Nicolas port and cove is ideal for swimming and marine activities thanks to its crystal clear water.
The area of Saint Nicolas has managed to remain “timeless” as time passes, a fact that enables the visitor to enjoy a peaceful and of unique natural beauty scenery. The touristic development of the area has taken place in a “gentle” way, which however allows the visitor to combine peaceful and relaxing vacation with entertainment and everything else that someone seeks from a holiday destination. Saint Nicolas port hosts all the small fishing boats of the area, as well as the boats that go on tours to the globally renowned Shipwreck and the famous Blue Caves. What is more, there is a ferry at Saint Nicolas Port that connects Zante with Kefalonia, for those interested in visiting another island of the Ionian Sea. Moreover, at Saint Nicolas one can find many picturesque taverns and coffee houses that offer the visitor the chance to combine swimming with a fine meal or drink. Nevertheless, the greatest attraction of Saint Nicolas is the small uninhabited island of Saint Nicolas, which is located exactly opposite the port just a few metres away.
It’s worth mentioning that in the wider area one can locate many beautiful rocky coves which are accessible only by boat or on foot via narrow paths. Anyway, the area is ideal for exploring. Some of the traditional products that you may purchase are the traditional goat cheese of the island (it is called ladotiri), honey, as well as numerous traditional handworks.
Saint Nicolas of Volimes is the synonym of relaxing and peaceful holidays close to nature and sea, being the perfect choice for families, couples and young people.
